Dishonored 2 PC System Requirements Need 60GB, GTX 660

The minimum and recommended system requirements for Dishonored 2 have been released to the public, along with the news that the game has officially gone gold.

Arkane Studios released the details over on Bethesda’s official website where they rolled out the minimum and recommended specs. This includes needing a Windows machine that runs Windows 7,8 or 10 that’s 64-bit and an Intel i5 or FX-8320 or higher and the standard 8GB of RAM. You can check out the minimum specs below.

Minimum Specs:

  • Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit versions); Intel Core i5-2400/AMD FX-8320 or better
  • 8 GB RAM; 60 GB free HDD space; NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB/AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB or better
  • Contains a single disc. Download of additional files from Steam is required to run the game.
  • Requires Steam activation.

If you don’t like Steam, tough luck for you. The fact that the disc only holds the basic stuff from the physical copy and you need to download everything from Steam shows that it’s almost pointless to even buy a physical copy unless it actually comes with a booklet and stuff.

The other thing is that you’ll need at least a GTX 660 with 2GB of VRAM or a Radeon HD 7970 with 3GB of VRAM to run the game. That’s kind of a steep requirement for AMD users, and it makes me wonder if Dishonored 2 actually looks that good on the bare minimum specs or if it’s one of those games with inflated requirements. We’ll likely find out once the benchmarks hit.

The recommended specs take a leap up… a big leap up. You’ll need at least 60GB of free hard drive space, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1060. Check out the specs below.

Recommended Specs

  • Windows 10 (64-bit versions); Intel Core i7-4770/AMD FX-8350 or better
  • 16 GB RAM; 60 GB free HDD space; NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB/AMD Radeon RX 480 8GB or better
  • Contains a single disc. Download of additional files from Steam is required to run the game.
  • Requires Steam activation.

A GTX 1060 with 6GB and an RX 480 with 8GB? Nasty.

I have to wonder if these cards will be utilized to their full potential? There’s so much focus on optimizing (read downgrading) these multi-platform titles for home consoles that oftentimes the high-end specs are just there for show and the game is scaled to hit the fidelity ceiling of the best performing home console. At least, that’s how it was during seventh gen. We’ll see if the real eighth gen games coming out this fall separate themselves from the pitiful excuses for PC ports we received last generation.

Now that the game has officially gone gold and development is done and finished, you can look for Dishonored 2 to drop on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One starting November 11th.
