Iron Harvest, Mech-Themed World War I Game Announced For PS4, PC, Xbox One

King Art Games announced that they have a new real-time strategy game in the works that’s due for release in 2018 for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC called Iron Harvest.

The new game is an isometric title set just after World War I. The alternate history game sees mechanized war-suits being applied during the great war, giving gamers a completely different take on the event.

Coming off the huge success of Battlefield 1, it’s no surprise that some other studios are attempting to cash in on the World War I craze, and technically there’s no better way than to give the war a bit more panache than throwing mechs into the fold.

According to the official website, the game will take place in sandbox levels with cover-oriented combat mechanics. Walls and barricades will protect against small arms fire and light explosives, but bullet penetration and environmental destruction affords mechs to blast through walls at leisure with their huge cannons.

The game will also sport a dynamic story for players to participate in, unfolding in different ways depending on the mission.

There’s also some really cool artwork available on the official website that showcases some of the different mech designs, including some that look like they come out of Metal Slug, while others have an early 20th century, coal-powered Titanfall look to them. One of the Russian mechs is a stubby looking tank that reminds me of a smaller version of one of the mechs from Pacific Rim.

If they can manage to bring the atmosphere in the game to life the way the concept art has done then I think Iron Harvest could end up being a surprise sleeper hit as a PC and home console RTS title.

The game is expected to release in 2018 and you can learn more by visiting the official website.
