Killing Floor 2 Goes Gold For PS4, PS4 Pro

Tripwire Interactive revealed that their first-person, cooperative, monster-killing shooter for PS4 has officially gone gold. This means that it won’t be long before you’ll be able to pick up a copy of Killing Floor 2 for PS4 or the PS4 Pro.

In the press release the developers announced that the game will be available both digitally and at retail for PlayStation gamers, carrying a $39.99 price tag for the physical copy and $29.99 price tag for the digital copy. This move signals the continued resurgence and return of the mid-budget action genre. Devolver Digital and Flying Wild Hog just recently basked in the pool of success with Shadow Warrior 2, which was another mid-budget shooter that made its way onto the market.

In this case, going gold means that the development for the game is finalized and finished and the gold master disc has been burned and sent off to the printing press for mass distribution. You can expect to see the game on store shelves starting November 18th, next Friday.

In Killing Floor 2 the game sees up to six players cooperatively working together to level-up their characters and fight off hordes of monsters in round-based survival modes. There are all new levels to participate in and an all new gore system that sees players being able to sever limbs, spill guts onto the floor and make use of the new visceral fluid mechanics.

They’ve also revamped the the melee system in Killing Floor 2, giving gamers more ways to chop, dice, slice, sever and clobber the Zeds into a bloody pulp of gore and viscera. They’ve also expanded the perk system for new abilities and unlockables for each of the playable character classes.

They also mention that Killing Floor 2 has been optimized for the PlayStation 4 Pro, but they don’t say exactly what sort of optimizations the game has. Can we expect native 4K or more of that phony 1800p nonsense that they settled with for The Last of Us: Remastered? I guess we’ll find out when the game launches on November 18th next week and Digital Foundry runs it through the gamut of benchmarks.

Killing Floor 2 will also graduate from Early Access on November 18th for PC on Steam, and you can learn more about the game by visiting the official website.
