Deep Rock Galactic To Bring Mining-Action To Steam In 2017

Running on the Unreal Engine 4 comes Ghost Ship’s Deep Rock Galactic, which is a game focused on mining and battling aliens in dark chasms. The FPS game supports 1-4 player co-op and some RPG elements, and will release for PC via Steam Early Access sometime next year.

If rambunctious mine digging dwarves are your thing and squashing alien lifeforms on outlandish planets seems fun, Deep Rock Galactic will bring just that and more. In addition to the game featuring exploration and combat, it will hone characteristics similar to the likes of Astroneer and No Man’s Sky insofar that you can dig and mine resources but in a story-based point-to-point procedurally generated system. This is further elaborated and explained in the description below.

“Join a team of badass space dwarves in this stylish 1-4 player co-op FPS. Fight, dig and explore your way through enormous procedurally generated cave systems, uncover the riches, and make it out alive…”

Furthermore, the dwarves in this game are space miners that work for corporate overlords and venture into the deepest, most dangerous cave systems for riches and gold.

According to some of the features noted on the game’s website, Deep Rock Galactic puts players in situations that enforce teamwork and promote team composition so that class building is something useful and vital when the going gets tough. Class-based skills and new gear can be unlocked as well as weapons throughout each mission, which adds to your growing arsenal to take down the worst monsters the galaxy has to offer.

If you need a quick look at what the voxel-looking game has to offer in video form, you can check out Deep Rock Galactic’s Pre-Alpha Teaser trailer that runs close to two minutes in length.

Actual gameplay footage sits below, which comes in by YouTuber Smash GaminG! – Frazzz. The 30 minute video below contains footage of the Closed Beta version of the game.

If you want to participate and help the developers out you can hit up the team’s main site and join the Alpha Sign-Up. Deep Rock Galactic is set to release for PC next year on Steam Early Access.
