Developers Brilliant Game Studios has created a war simulation game that features an impressive amount of units on the screen, in their new game titled, Epic Battle Simulator.
When I first saw this game I thought to myself “Why is Totally Accurate Battle Simulator back on steam Greenlight again?”, until I realized that this is a completely new game made by another development team.
While Totally Accurate Battle Simulator was more-so focused on physics-based battles, Epic Battle Simulator focuses more on a massive number of units on the screen all at once in a variety of crazy scenarios. You can place Roman soldiers against an army of chickens as numberless as sand along the seashore, or an army of modern day military soldiers armed with assault rifles, fighting against a flood of zombies that are as countless as the stars in the sky.
Does that sound like an exaggeration? It really does, but that is in truth what the game is all about. Epic Battles on an Epic scale. The below video showcases 10,000 chickens on the battlefield at once, but the developers say that if your machine can handle it (and they really don’t recommend this), you can bump that number up to 100,000 units.
Battles can be very diverse, it doesn’t JUST have to be chickens, Romans or military soldiers, the game will also include Knights, Trolls, Orcs, Penguins, and some super fat Santas as well, allowing you to mix and match the different unit types to your heart’s content to create as many different Epic Battle Simulations that you can imagine. The developer said that he spent months using the Unity game engine to create the perfect crowd rendering system, but he also kept the units acting individually with their animations, while also allowing them to keep their detail without slowing down the framerate of the game. Not only that, but the game also features an impressive lighting system and environments to give a pretty realistic look to the game. Considering there are over 10,000 units currently present on the screen, I have to say, Epic Battle Simulations is pretty impressive.
