Fast And Furious 8: The Fate Of The Furious Trailer Has Dom Turning Evil

As mentioned in the comment section of the YouTube trailer “First Optimus, now Dom”. That seems to be the theme of 2017’s big blockbusters so far. The newest trailer for Fast and Furious 8: The Fate of the Furious, features three minutes of high-octane explosions, chase scenes, fight scenes, backstabbing, a little bit of romance and a daringly dangerous Charlize Theron.

By the way, does that woman ever age? My goodness she looks amazing.

Anyway, the trailer starts with boom and ends with a bang. It’s non-stop from start to finish and it almost feels like the entire plot is giving away in the movie. What really would have been cool is if they kept it a bit under wraps and slowly unveiled hints and pieces about Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel’s character, turning evil leading up to the release of the film. But having The Rock and Jason Statham team up together is kind of cool. You can check out the trailer below, courtesy of Consequence of Sound.

In a way, it feels like 10 movies in one. We have Vin Diesel betraying the gang to lock lips and work for Charlize Theron. We have Theron doing who knows what with her high-tech submarine. We have Kurt Russel running counter-ops to Theron’s whatever-ops. We have the Scooby Doo combustible engine crew trying to track down Dom and stop him (and somehow he’s strong enough to fight all of them off), we have The Rock ending up prison and busting Jason Statham out, and none of this makes any sense whatsoever as to what the actual plot of the movie is.

Fast and Furious 8 almost seems as if it’s turned into a parody of itself at this point. The cool street races and awesome tuner car culture has been left way, way far behind in the dust as they focus on these over-the-top adventures featuring super spies and secret international criminal organizations. It’s just crazy.

They also seem to have an anime thing going on where every major opponent/villain they defeat ends up joining their squad. It start with Paul Walker, who defected from the county police/FBI to join up with Dom’s crew, and now they have super-dangerous, international hitman killer, Jason Statham, filling out the ranks.

Crazy.

Anyway, the movie is due to hit theaters this upcoming spring in 2017.
