GOG.com Offers 2016 Goodbuy Sale On 10 Games

GOG.com announced over on their official website that they have a discount sale on 10 of the top games from their catalog as a way to say “Goodbye” to 2016 with a “Goodbuy” sale.

The 10 games they have available on discount includes:

  • Inside
  • Owlboy
  • Starbound
  • Stardew Valley
  • Grim Dawn
  • Obduction
  • Darkest Dungeon
  • Day of the Tentacle
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Blood and Wine
  • Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Not a bad list of games. These 10 games being discounted are separate from the other sale they have going on where various titles within their catalog are discounted by up to 90% off.

This is GOG.com’s alternative to the current, ongoing, Steam Winter Sale, which will last up until January 2nd, 2017.

GOG.com’s sale will last a little less than that, with its cut-off date being December 28th, just ahead of New Year’s Eve. So whatever you plan on getting you better make sure you get it before next week rolls around.

Each of the games are discounted between 10% and 50% off. Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is only 10% off the normal price, where-as Darkest Dungeon is 50% off the normal price. The other games are fitted somewhere in between.

As mentioned on GOG.com’s news page…

“2016 had its rough spots, but surely we can all agree on one thing: it’s been a delightful year for video games. To cap it off, we’re putting ten great releases from this year on sale, alongside bundles of classics and modern wonders in the Goodbuy 2016 Sale!”

I do have to disagree with GOG.com on one thing… this was not a great year for gaming. It was mostly a lot of lazy new IPs, reboots, sequels and resequels. Games like DOOM were good for what they were, but it was more-so a game that received a lot of praise for not screwing up the formula rather than pushing the genre forward the way the original DOOM did.

Also, identity and social politics still reigned supreme. We had to deal with tons of censorship across various games and lots of problems due to localization outfits being disruptive agitators…. like what happened with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE and Fire Emblem: Fates.

Anyway, it doesn’t look like gaming is going to get any better anytime soon. But you can enjoy the discounts and deals currently going on at Steam and GOG.com.
