If mecha and fighting games are your thing, I think that Gundam Versus might be something worth keeping an eye on. Bandai Namco released new information regarding the upcoming fighting game that tags along with Famitsu’s information detailing what folks can expect from Gundam Versus.

Before detailing the new information that just came out by Bandai Namco for Gundam Versus, let’s look over some info that’s a bit old that brings everyone up to speed regarding the initial content in the game. According to Famitsu the game will have 12 Mobile Suits to pick from and are listed below:

  • Gundam
  • Guncannon
  • Gouf
  • V-Gundam
  • Wing Gundam Zero
  • Tallgeese
  • Unicorn Gundam
  • Shinanju
  • Exia
  • Kyrios
  • Barbatos
  • Full Armor Gundam.

The publication site also played a Closed Alpha version of Gundam Versus, and this is what the site listed below regarding the mechanics in the game:

Boost Dive – is an action that if you fall at high speed from an airborne state, which triggering cancels all of your actions. You can land instantly so that you can shift the timing of your landing and reduce openings after using a weapon.

Striker Select – are allies that you can pick and call upon at any time. During the Closed Alpha test (according to Famitsu) players were able to select two of three Strikers for each Mobile Suit. The Striker Gauge will build up over time, allowing you to call upon your Striker, which at this moment consists of GM, Ball and Thunderbolt GM.

Awakening System – you can choose from two types of gears in this mode, which include “Blaze Gear” and “Lightning Gear”. The former is an instant awakening and when activated it has effects that increase your melee combat abilities. The latter, Lightning Gear, continues the awaking mechanic, which increases your lock-on range when activated.

Looking over to the more recent news regarding Gundam Versus, Bandai Namco will premiere a new two vs. two battle video from the Alpha version of the game for PS4 during the Gundam Game Festival #3. This event will go down on December 26th at 20:00 JST, which if you want to tune in on said date and watch it you can by hitting up 876TV or live.b-ch.com.

Although there is no release date for Gundam Versus just yet, the game is set to have both a Japanese and Asian English version for PS4.
