PSX 2016: NieR Automata Launches March 7th, 2017 For PS4
(Last Updated On: December 3, 2016)

Platinum Games’ highly anticipated third-person, hack-and-slash action-RPG for the PS4 has a finalized release date. During this year’s stage conference for the PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California, it was revealed that NieR: Automata will be releasing on March 7th, 2017.

The news was accompanied by a quick 34 second teaser trailer featuring gameplay, combat and a brief look at the game’s main protagonists. IGN posted up the trailer below, which was strangely made private by the official Sony PlayStation account.

The trailer doesn’t reveal too much of anything new that we haven’t already seen before. We do get to see a brief side-scrolling segment up on a rusted structure where the protagonist battles some more robots, as well as a few more sequences of 2B dodging, flipping and exercising some mean acrobatic punishment to anyone who stands in her way.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Square Enix’s marketing lead, Francis Santos, took time out to explain that there’s a special Black Box edition of Nier: Automata on the way that will include special limited edition goodies.

Nier: Automata

The Black Box Edition features a hard care art book, a collector’s box that’s black, a 2B figurine, a steelbook case, and the original soundtrack in addition to the NieR: Automata game. There are also various DLC packs included, featuring a mask accessory, and five different pods.

The Black Box collector’s edition will be available in limited supply, so likely only the most die hard of fans will be able to get their hands on the game.

So far, NieR: Automata is looking really sexy and the distinct art-style helps it stand out quite a bit from a bunch of the other games out there. The combat is the one thing that impresses me the most about it and we’ll be able to see it on store shelves starting March 7th, 2017.
