Save Our Souls is an indie game that seems to be developed by only one guy, Martin Kalimukwa of Relentless Games.

The first episode in this third person shooter, action adventure game is titled Save Our Souls: Episode 1 – The Absurd Hopes Of Blessed Children. So far the game is still a bit rough around the edges and it needs to be refined a bit more with the animations and a few of the visual effects, but I also see the potential in this game if it’s done right.

Save Our Souls follows three female childhood friends that serve as the main protagonists of the story. At the moment it isn’t clear if you play as a single character throughout the game, choose a character and follow their journey, or if the game will switch between different characters as the story unfolds.

The events of the first episode seems to explain the start of the story and follows the main protagonist in the city as everything falls apart and goes to hell. Save Our Souls starts with the lead character explaining that the world fell apart during the third world war. While the world was distracted and the different countries were at each other’s throats, a cataclysmic event took place where fire rained down from the sky and demons began to invade the earth, killing anyone that crossed their path. This quickly launched the world into an apocalyptic state of survival as different factions banded together to survive and the governments around the world fell. However, there are people that say that it was all just a myth, as if it never happened.

It appears the story follows the protagonist as she searches for her sister and attempts to learn the truth alongside her friends. I don’t know how the game unfolds from there, but the trailer seems to suggest that the demons return and attack the city, and our heroes must band together to fight to save the world. At least, that is what I pieced together from the little I have seen from the game. We’ll have to wait and see next Spring to get the full story.
