Space Engineers Update Addresses Windows 10 Black Screen Bug

A new update for Space Engineers has arrived and it’s mostly about squashing bugs and fixing some issues that cropped up in Windows 10. Update 01.168 stable build makes some minor improvements to the beta version of the game, helping to stabilize and optimize the performance of the emergent space simulator.

They released a quick two minute video to cover some of the minor changes they’ve made in the newest beta build of the game, and you can check it out below.

Now for those of you playing on Windows 10 suffering from the black screen issue due to a scaling bug, you can find a workaround for the bug over on the Keen Software House forums. They suggest setting your desktop scaling to 100% in Windows 10. You can do this by going into your display settings by right-clicking the desktop and then clicking on the slider bar that reads Change the size of texts, apps and other items and ensuring that it’s properly scaled to 100%.

Beyond that, they didn’t have much else to share. They did note in the video above that in early 2017 they will be focusing on improving the survival gameplay aspects for Space Engineers, so that should be pretty cool to see once it’s implemented.

Also, if that giant monstrosity in the main header image has you all hot and bothered in all the right sci-fi places, you can get your hands on your very own Mobile Mining Base. It’s a mobile structure designed to mine ore, process it and craft it into whatever you need. It’s a mammoth sized structure that is reminiscent to the dirt giants that move tons and tons of dirt in order to make new roads, terraform and all that other good stuff.

The Mining Base blueprint was designed by modder Extevious-V. You can download the mod from over on the Steam Workshop page. Alternatively, you can learn more about Space Engineers or pick up a beta copy of the game by heading on over to the Steam store.
