Due out in the second quarter of 2017, SadSquare Studio’s Visage recently was featured on some YouTube channels where up to 17 minutes of gameplay footage was highlighted for the public’s consumption.
YouTuber MathChief compiled the footage so gamers who haven’t been made aware of Visage could get a sound understanding of what the first-person horror title is like. You can check out the video below.
The footage starts with someone waking up in a bath tube and they eventually make their way out of the bathroom and through the creepy, empty house. There’s definitely a jump-scare vibe to the game and it focuses mostly on exploration based on the video footage. The first clip ends after getting to the end of the hallway where a red door is illuminated.
The second clip focuses on a naked person in a dark room with a flickering florescent light overhead. Various specters pop into view as the light continues to flicker before fading out to another scene in the house where they examine more of the rooms and the objects.
It’s obviously very similar to Allison Road or the P.T. Demo for Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s cancelled Silent Hills.
The atmosphere is creepier than anything you might find on Anthony Weiner’s laptop. The room at the 15 minute mark was said by several commenters on the YouTube page that it felt like something right out of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Hands down, there is no denying that there’s a huge Nightmare on Elm Street vibe when the player heads into super scary looking basement place.
SadSquare originally had Visage Kickstarted to the tune of $120,000 back in January of 2016, earlier this year. Thousands of gamers pledged funds to help bring the horror title to life. The last major update was back in the middle of November, where they revealed that a January, 2017 release was untenable but they are still on track for a 2017 release. The game was pushed back to the second quarter of next year, which isn’t that bad of a delay.
