Wipeout Omega Collection Gameplay Footage Showcases 60fps Gameplay

Wipeout HD, Wipeout Fury and Wipeout 2048 have been remade and remastered for re-release on the PlayStation 4 in the form of the bundle pack of Wipeout Omega Collection. The bundled all-in-one game is set to arrive for the PS4 and PS4 Pro this upcoming summer in 2017.

On the long road to its release, some new footage was made available from Epos Game Studios, given to the good folks at PlayStation Access so that they could talk over the game and showcase up to six minutes worth of in-game footage, running at the very impressive and very clean 60 frames per second.

The first thing worth noticing is just how smooth the game runs at 60 frames per second on the PS4. Graphically, the fidelity isn’t the most amazing thing out there. The

The geometry is passably decent, the shadows and lighting are serviceable and the post-processing is kind of limited. Screen space motion blur doesn’t appear to be present, and surprisingly there’s no depth of field for the environmental structures not located on the track. Then again, they could be scaling back on some of the graphics in order to maintain that crisp, smooth 60fps gameplay, in which case I’m completely okay with that.

Another thing worth pointing out is that the sharp resolution and anti-aliasing makes everything look extremely clean. The Based on the way the lighting is rendered on some of the tracks it looks as if they’re pre-baked. Again, it could be used to help cut down on the processing power to help the PS4 achieve and maintain 60fps.

Even still, the game does look gorgeous overall, and the developers have done a fine job of bringing the futuristic blast from the past back up to today’s current generation with notable appeal.

You can look for the triple-pack of Wipeout games bundled into Wipeout Omega Collection to launch in the summer of 2017 for the PS4.
