Cemu 1.7.0 Download Adds Support For Customizable Graphics Pack

Exzap informed the kind Patreon backers of the Cemu emulator that version 1.7.0 is now available for download. If you’ve contributed at least $5 to the continued development of the Cemu emulator, then you can access the newest version of the emulator right now. For everyone else, you’ll be able to download the public version of 1.7.0 from the official Cemu website.

The changelog has been kept rather simple, but there has been some significant additions to the Wii U emulator, namely customizable graphics through a built-in graphics modding wrapper that allows users to customize and import their own graphics settings for the Cemu, thus allowing users to customize the render output of the game to best suit their hardware and aesthetic tastes. As detailed in a post over on the GBA Temp forums, there’s also been a bug fix with one of the shader handlers and an overhaul for the shader cache.

You’re probably dying to see what the newest version of the Cemu 1.7.0 looks like, and thankfully YouTuber reznoire has up some videos of games like Xenoblade Chronicles X running at 4K. Check it out below.

You can ultimately run Wii U games at 4K and 60fps on a GTX 970 with 8GB of RAM and a 4Ghz Intel CPU.

Not bad.

Now that the Cemu is running Wii U games almost 1:1 as the Wii U (or in some cases, better) a lot of gamers may actually forfeit getting a Wii U and will instead just stick with PC and buy and dump the more rare Wii U titles. Heck CyberPowerPC just unleashed a new $499.99 VR-ready gaming PC that would allow you to run Wii U titles at 4K.

If you can’t wait until January 16th to get your hands on the free version of Cemu, you can download a copy of version 1.7.0 by donating $5 to the Cemu Patreon.
