Mario Kart 8 Deluxe On Switch Includes Battle Stages; Launches April 28th

One of the few games that were advertised during the original Nintendo Switch commercial from back in October was a Mario Kart racing game. It was pretty obvious it was some iteration of Mario Kart 8 from the Wii U, but it also appeared to feature some other stuff that wasn’t in the Wii U version. Well, Nintendo officially announced that the reason that version of the game in the commercial looked a little different was because it is different… it’s called Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and it’s set to launch this spring for the Nintendo Switch on April 28th.

The game received an official gameplay trailer detailing some of the features and tracks included in the pack, most of which contain all of the basic content that was in Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U and then some. This includes the previously released DLC as well.

You can get a look at the new and improved version of the Wii U racer for the Nintendo Switch with the trailer below.

Some of the highlights from the upcoming game includes the addition of the Splatoon gang and a new battle arena based on a map from Splatoon.

The classic battle mode was something that gamers really wanted back in Mario Kart 8, and we see it fully restored in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, along with the new levels.

Dry Bones, King Boo and Bowser Jr., will also be playable in the game as part of the core package. You won’t have to pay extra to get your hands on anything showcased in the trailer.

You can look for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to launch exclusively on the Nintendo Switch starting April 28th. It’s a little sad that it’s not a launch title and is almost two months removed from the Nintendo Switch’s launch, but at least it’s arriving within the first quarter of the Nintendo Switch’s launch window, so that’s very, very good news.

At the very least, the launch window line-up of games for the Nintendo Switch is looking mighty fine.
