Injustice 2 Adds Swamp Thing And His Leafy Wings
Injustice 2 - Swamp Thing

A new exclusive trailer released via IGN has revealed that DC’s lesser known super hero, Swamp Thing, will be in Injustice 2. After making a brief appearance in the recent animated film, Justice League Dark, Swamp thing will further his comeback with a rather sizable role in the upcoming fighting game from NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

The video is just under two minutes long, featuring the muddy man turned monster using a plethora of tree, vine, roots and swamp-themed attacks to hurl his opponents around the stages and batter them into a pulp. You can check it out below.

Within Injustice 2, Swamp Thing is kind of big, hulking and slow, which fits his aesthetic quite well. He has some mid to long range attacks, but his close-range combos are a bit lacking. I think that’s fine given that he seems to be the kind of character that’s good for zoning his opponents. We see how he can quickly unleash anti-air attacks and string together a few moves to keep his opponents at a distance at just about all times.

Swamp Thing’s special sees him slamming opponents into the ground repeatedly and then breaking them in half using giant fists located underground. It’s inventive, violent and quite befitting. Upon winning the round we get to see Swamp Thing spread his wings, literally, and take to the skies for a brief moment to bask in his victory.

If NetherRealm decides to include additional skins, I’m really hoping they pay an homage to Wes Craven’s design that was used in the old 1982 film that co-starred the curvaceous Adrienne Barbeau.

I’m also curious what his armor pieces are going to look like? He’s an odd beast compared to the other heroes, so they definitely get a bit of freedom as to how they deck him out. Combining different pieces and designs from his various incarnations would be pretty cool.

You can look for Injustice 2 to arrive on Xbox One and PS4 on May 16th this spring.
