NetherRealm tried toning down and getting rid of the sexiness in Mortal Kombat X. They wanted more masculine women who dressed the part of butt-kickers as opposed to the over-the-top eye-candy present in Mortal Kombat 9. They seem to have found a sensible middle-ground with Injustice 2, unveiling a very sexually suggestive and sultry take on Poison Ivy for Valentine’s Day.
The femme fatale was revealed in-game alongside Catwoman, Black Canary and newcomer Cheetah. They made sure that Ivy’s face and body language depicted someone in control of her sexuality, and someone who isn’t afraid to flaunt it, whip it, and snap it around like the vines she unleashes per her command. You can see Ivy, Catwoman, Black Canary and Cheetah in action with the trailer below.
Sadly, boob physics are still off the table. You can obviously see where they’ve made sure that the boob physics are about as wooden as Mike Pence’s face. And there’s nothing sexy about Pence’s face.
Most of the commenters on the YouTube page noted that Poison Ivy appears to be Injustice 2’s sexiest character yet. It’s also a stark departure from the man-face designs that NetherRealm gave their previous Mortal Kombat characters, showing a lot more maturity in depicting the feminine aspects of the female form.
Others were still head over heels with how lovely they made Black Canary look, and having a voice to match.
Catwoman, however… well… she’s still a work in progress.
Commenters rightly pointed out how her hairline looks disjointed and incomplete, how her face seems a little buttery and how her voice doesn’t quite match her look. Others were simply disappointed that she wasn’t wearing her goggles.
I’m more-so interested in the customization for some of these characters, especially Poison Ivy. I think that’s going to be the real mark of creativity and originality for Injustice 2; playing through the game and unlocking new gear for your favorite heroes and villains.
Also, I hope Green Arrow makes the cut again.
Injustice 2 is due to drop on May 16th this spring for the Xbox One and PS4.
