WARTILE, Top-Down Strategy Game Set To Hit PC Via Steam

Do you like playing take-turn board games in real life? If you do there is a new game that is in the works named WARTILE. Combining turn-based combat, animated tabletop figurines and environments, the indie game is something that surely stands out from other strategy titles. Playwood Project’s WARTILE has no release date yet, but it is set to come out for PC via Steam Early Access.

Strategy games done right can be very interesting pieces of work, but that’s only when they are done right. This can apply to a lot of other genres, but I think that the strategy genre, specifically the indie scene, has been overrun with a bunch of clones that offer nothing original.

It seems that a small indie team named Playwood Project wants to change how take-turn games look and bring a different style to the strategy world, although core mechanics may still function somewhat the same, the look of WARTILE is a lot different from a typical strategy game.

If you want to see a glimpse of the game, a small list of screenshots showing WARTILE can be seen below.

Furthermore, the game sees players using the strength of their units to exploit the enemies’ weakness through semi-large scale battles. Battles can turn very quickly through special abilities and action cards that can change the playing field in the wielders favor — if the card is played correctly.

Both the description and trailer sit below for you to look over.

“In WARTILE miniature figures battle it out in a real time strategy video game. Position your figurines, use their strengths and be mindful of their weaknesses, activate their special abilities and play your action cards to gain the upper hand on the playing field.”

As seen above, you will be able to take part in a “Viking Conquest” campaign, giving a taste of medieval charm set in a fantasy universe. This means that collecting a group of Viking warriors through a series of conflicts will be a thing, as well as attempting to conquer Scandinavia and England.
