Bloodstained Coming To Switch Due To Poor Wii U Support From Nintendo

Inti Creates is currently working on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for home consoles and PC. The Kickstarted Metroidvania game – based on the classic Castlevania franchise – has seen its ups and downs throughout development, but the latest news is that the team announced that they’re canceling the Wii U version and focusing instead on putting the game on the Nintendo Switch. Why? Because apparently Nintendo isn’t offering much support for Wii U titles anymore.

Creative director Koji Igarashi stated on the Kickstarter page

”I would like to give a message to the backers who pledged for the Wii U version of Bloodstained.

“During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch.

“This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch.”

So due to difficulty in receiving necessary support from Nintendo, they decided to give up on the Wii U and focus on the Nintendo Switch.

It makes sense given that Nintendo wants as many people as possible working on their new home console instead of the failed Wii U.

So what happens to everyone who backed Bloodstained in order to get a Wii U copy? Well, all those people who pledged $28 or more to the project will be automatically moved over to the Nintendo Switch. So what happens if you hate the Nintendo Switch and don’t want to support that console? Well, you’ll be forced to choose to receive a copy of the game for PC, PS4 or Xbox One.

The game has been delayed from its original slated release, but they announced on the Kickstarter page that they have plans on unveiling new characters and updates on the progress of development. Only now they’ll be focusing on Nintendo Switch owners instead of Wii U owners.
