Monster Hunter On Nintendo Switch Not Ruled Out, According To Capcom

Capcom has recently released Monster Hunter XX in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS. A lot of gamers have been desperately wanting to see the game released in North America for the 3DS as well. Of course, some gamers took it a step further, asking about about Monster Hunter XX on the Nintendo Switch.

According to PVP Live, Wall Street Journal reporter Takashi Mochizuki managed to get in time with Capcom producer Shintaro Kojima, who worked on Monster Hunter XX, and here’s what he had to share via Twitter.

Essentially, he seems to point to the fact that before Capcom decides to port the game to the Nintendo Switch, they want you to pick up a copy on the 3DS first.

It’s common business sense given that there are more than 60 million units out in the wild and the 3DS is a powerhouse when it comes to moving units in the portable gaming space.

A lot of developers have taken a sort of wait and see approach with the Nintendo Switch, but Capcom has already committed to the Switch with Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challenger, and they’re likely going to follow-up with Monster Hunter XX if the system continues to sell well after they’ve managed to milk all the 3DS gamers for what they’re worth.

Given Capcom’s usual time-frame for porting games from East to West – it took them about half a year to move over Monster Hunter Generations from Japan to North America – we might see Monster Hunter XX make its way to the West sometime during the holiday season later this year. A real treat for Switch users is if they also release a Switch version during the holiday as well. That’s not to mention that it would soar sales for both the game and Nintendo’s new hybrid system.
