Tekken 7 Trailer Reveals Eddy Gordo Making A Return To The Roster

Bandai Namco recently unveiled a new promo trailer for Tekken 7, revealing another character for the roster: fan-favorite Eddy Gordo. The trailer clocks in at a minute and 37 seconds, featuring the dancing capoeira fighter and his fancy moves making a return to the series.

Eddy first appeared in Tekken 3, representing all the lovely people from Brazil. Unlike other fighters on the roster, Eddy didn’t have a traditional moveset centered around basic kicks and punches. Much like May Lee or Momoko from King of Fighters, Eddy has the ability to morph and move through the flow of manual combos, allowing players to string together some devastating attacks, as showcased in the trailer below.

Eddy seems to have undergone some stylistic changes. He’s now sporting a leopard jacket with leather pants. He has brown leather gloves with some metal bracers on his fingers.

He looks very different from his designs since the previous games, but his fighting is unmistakable.

You can still slice through the defenses of an opponent with Eddy’s high and low attacks, allowing him to quickly move from a high attack into a low attack and vice versa, so that he can consistently keep his opponents off guard.

His attacks look good, but there’s also a bit of cheese going on where he should have been tagged by the front kick but the hit detection didn’t register and his attack carried through anyway. That, I hope, gets fixed by release. It was always nagging bugs like that which made Tekken kind of annoying.

Anyway, I can’t complain too much given that Namco has at least listened to the fans and are bringing over Tekken 7 to PC this summer along with the PS4 and Xbox One worldwide release. So that’s great news for all the PC gamers out there who enjoys the series.

You can look for Tekken 7 to launch on June 2nd.
