Bandai Namco Files For “Pac-Man Maker” Trademark

I know the header image may not have anything to do with the upcoming Pac-Man game, besides being the second entry to Bandai Namco’s iconic cracker eater. However, and as of recent, the company filed for a trademark that reads “Pac-Man Maker”, which has everyone thinking that the project in the making will be like Super Mario Maker.

If this is the case, it’s likely that we will see a lot of classic and ambitious works during the 2D era of Pac-Man’s side-scrolling pixel or 3D era. This means that games like Pac-Man Arcade, Professor Pac-Man, Pac-Land, Pac-Mania, Pac-Attack, and Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures — which is a favorite of mine — could make an appearance in said game.

Now none of the above games listed are official in making an entry in said new title, which you should keep in mind. But it is worth pointing out that the game has a lot of material to work with, despite some folks on various forum boards saying that Pac-Man does not have enough games in the series like Mario where the upcoming title could feature various scenarios like Super Mario Maker.

Just to show some of the assets and props the devs could use/feature in the game can be seen below, which comes in thanks to Andrew Luiz.

I bet you are wondering where this information is coming from, right? Well, it was originally spotted by NeoGAF member FelipeMGM (but I’m not putting a link to that site), and featured on publication site mynintendonews.com. The latter site goes into detail that Bandai Namco filed for the trademark on the EUIPO database.

In addition to the above, the EUIPO control trademarks in the European Union, which is visible for you to see by hitting up euipo.europa.eu.

There’s no word on when the game will release, but it’s likely that we will hear more about this Super Mario Maker-like game in the near future.
