Crawl Multiplayer Guide: Here’s How To Play Online With Friends

Want to play with friends or others online without having to use the local co-op in the new game Crawl? In this guide folks will learn how to play with others through an online function that grants access to other people playing Powerhoof’s Crawl, which is out now for PC via Steam.

Notice: This multiplayer guide for Crawl requires a download to play with others online.

It seems that there are a lot of gamers out there looking to play Crawl with friends, but not in the same instance — if that makes sense. In other words, they want to play with other people across the web and avoid being stuck playing local multiplayer  at home with several extra controllers.

With that said, if you are new to this game and seek a summary explaining of what Crawl is about, a description for the game sits below. But if you already have an idea as to what the game is about, you can skip the description and head to the step-by-step guide that comes in by Validtility.

“Crawl is the dungeon crawler where your friends control the monsters! Battle through randomly generated dungeons full of cruel traps and horrid beasts- all controlled by the other players. If a friend kills you they take your place and it’s their turn to crawl! It’s a race to gain enough XP and loot to face them all as they control the flailing limbs of the hulking final boss!”

Step 1: To get the whole multiplayer thing working, you will need the latest version of GeForce Experience.

Step 2: Install the program. Register an account through the program, if you don’t have one already, and then verify your email.

Step 3: Open the client, find the button that reads Share on the left-hand side of the options Gear icon and then press it to go to the two Gears that should bring you to the Share options. It’s advised that you check your keybinding for Share Overlay.

Step 4: If you are not online through the program please read over the original guide via Steam’s community page. If you are able to get online, make sure that the people you are playing with are using the GeForce Experience beta — or the same version that you are on.

Step 5: This part requires players to use Google Chrome, it will install an extension when you try to join someone else, which you should let it install. Start up a new game in Crawl and head to the local co-op screen to see if others will join. Use your hotkeys to bring up the Share Overlay from GeForce Experience. Press Stream and send an invite. Send it to the mail of the other players, where they should receive an invite through their browser inbox.

Step 6: Use the Stream button to go to the Guest Controls. While still inside of the Share Overlay enable Play with me. Exit the overlay with the hotkey or the “X” in the top right-hand corner.

And that’s about it to this guide. Remember, if you are having trouble it’s best to head on over to the original guide by Validtility.

Crawl is out now for PC via Steam and currently runs for $11.99 due to a 20 percent off special going until April 18th. The game originally runs for $14.99.
