Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star Pre-Orders Open Up For Nintendo Switch

The action hack-and-slash PS4 port of Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star is prepping for release on the Nintendo Switch. The game came out earlier this year for the PS4 and now it’s prepping to release very soon on the Nintendo Switch.

The Game Idealist did a quick article highlighting that the Umbral Star for the Nintendo Switch is currently listed on Amazon for $59.99. What’s more is that they don’t have a placeholder date, instead they list the July 25th date that was announced during the Nintendo Direct earlier in the month.

The Amazon listing also details some of the content in the Switch version of the game, including the game being packed with 30 pieces of the DLC costumes, including an all new Unshackled Bride outfit.

The game will also feature Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star’s three main campaign modes with the three different main servant characters.

Nintendo outlined earlier in the month that they would be rolling out additional games and content for the Nintendo Switch throughout the rest of spring, summer and fall, with a mixture of indie, mid-budget and AAA titles.

At the end of this month they’ll have Mario Kart 8: Deluxe made available for the Switch, and then they plan on following that up with Splatoon 2 at the beginning of July. I doubt a game like Fate/Extella is going to really move big numbers but it’s the sort of game that could at least help pad the Nintendo Switch’s software library, since it was one of the things that a lot of people had been complaining about in regards to the hybrid platform’s features.

They’re still going to need to unleash a few more games for the Switch that appeal to more than just the otaku crowd. Senran Kagura is also inbound for the Switch, so if you’re looking for more bounce and jiggle in your hack-and-slash games then that’s another decent alternative from Xseed Games. Additionally, Nintendo is really going to need to step up the supply of the Nintendo Switch, otherwise people who would like to buy certain games won’t be able to if they can’t even get their hands on a Switch.

Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star is due to drop in North America for the Switch on July 25th.
