GameStop Will Restock More Nintendo Switch Units On April 28th

It appears a lot of retailers will restock their supply of Nintendo Switch SKUs with the launch of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe, which launches on April 28th at the end of this week.

The news comes from a press release note that Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad shared on Twitter.

You can view the press release over on the official GameStop website, where Eric Bright, senior director of merchandising for GameStop commented about the new resupply of Nintendo Switch units at the gaming boutique, saying…

“It’s perfect timing to have additional Nintendo Switch units arrive just days before the launch of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, one of the biggest and most loved games from Nintendo,” “This is truly an amazing pairing of the latest in Nintendo technology innovation with a classic, iconic game.”

The supply for Switch units has been constrained greatly due to the demand. A lot of brick and mortar retailers ended up getting some additional units in throughout April but purposefully have been withholding them until April 28th, which is when Mario Kart 8: Deluxe launches for the Nintendo Switch.

This coordinated marketing strategy is enough to help some brick and mortar retailers gain a serious upperhand when it comes to moving big stock over the weekend heading into May.

If you places like NowInStock.com, you’ll notice that resupplies haven’t been made available throughout most of April, with the last major resupply taking place on April 9th. Sporadically, some units have been popping up at various Targets, Wal-Marts and GameStop’s across the nation, but otherwise a majority of playces are waiting until April 28th to roll out their bundles.

The press release from GameStop suggests actually showing up in person to get a unit, so it sounds like they’re going to be purposefully restricting sales when it comes to online purchases, which is a shame.
