JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Live-Action Movie Trailer Is Bizarre

I don’t know what’s really going on in the trailer, but the live-action adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is as crazy and bizarre as you would expect… but maybe a little less so.

The anime, manga and games based on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure get pretty crazy and go way out there in terms of characterizations, fights and plot. The movie tries to condense things down into more of what appears to be a murder-mystery plot. You can check out the trailer below, courtesy of New Trailer Buzz.

Fans basically recognize that the movie is likely going to be crap, but they also feel as if the movie should have started with the Phantom Blood saga to better introduce people to the bizarre universe of JoJo instead of just deep-diving into the latter adventures starring Josuke Higashikata.

In fact, one of the biggest complaints about the trailer is that there doesn’t appear to be any use of the Stands in the film. The trailer also only briefly shows Jotaro Kujo, the more recognizable protagonist in the previous JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures series.

The film seems to follow Josuke around as he attempts to protect his town from the Stands.

The movie seems to have more of a crime-thriller vibe to it than the over-the-top supernatural fighting elements from the manga, games and anime.

I don’t know if this is going to be one of those cheesy-but-entertaining flicks or something that’s just so trite and vapid that it’s a boring waste of time, but the trailer appears to depict a more straight-laced tone for the film that makes it seem as if it’s not going to be as outlandish as flicks like Big Trouble in Little China or The Six String Samurai, which is a real shame because it seems like a movie based on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure needs to be as crazy and ridiculous as the source material it’s based on.

Anyway, the film is due out this June. You can learn more by visiting the official website.
