Shakedown Hawaii Due For Release On Nintendo Switch In Q2, 2017

Vblank Entertainment has reiterated their confirmation that Shakedown Hawaii, the spiritual successor to Retro City Rampage, will launch on the Nintendo Switch at some point later in the year. This confirmation comes via a 20 second look at the game’s title screen and a tweet from the developers.

Vblank shot down a request to reveal an official release date, saying that they still need to finish the game first before dropping any specifics about the date.

They did, however, provide a release window over on the official Nintendo website, where they have a second quarter, 2017 slate setup on the site.

Previously they had an April, 2017 release date penned in for Shakedown Hawaii, with the developers stating that they would release the game first on Nintendo Switch, as reported by Niche Gamer.

However, according to Vblank, it doesn’t appear as if April is scheduled in on the calendar for release anymore. The final day of April is next Sunday on the 30th. So unless they go gold and finish up before the end of this week, there’s no way that Shakedown Hawaii will launch in April as they had originally planned.

Given that the Q2, 2017 date is still penciled in on the Nintendo website, it’s possible that we could see the game arrive on the Nintendo Switch first starting this summer. The game is also scheduled to release on the PS4, PS Vita, 3DS and on Steam for PC. Strangely there’s no mention of the open-world, 16-bit shooter title set to arrive on the Xbox One. You know things are bad when a game will launch on the Nintendo 3DS but won’t touch the Xbone.
