Shiness Character Trailer Opts To Tease Gamers With Fun, Action And Fantasy

Enigami and Focus Home Interactive released a new trailer for Shiness, the upcoming, JRPG-inspired game for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The trailer covers the game’s five main characters and their abilities.

The trailer is barely just under two minutes long, but it’s chock full of action, spotlighting each of the five characters and their fighting and magical abilities. If you’re into the furry culture you’ll be right at home with the characters in the game. You can check out the trailer below.

The music, presentation and visuals connect well, and resonate a lot of passion and enthusiasm. It feels like this is a project that was a labor of love for Enigami, and reminds me of the classics from 20 years ago where developers were more interested in just making great art and great games and sharing them with the world.

Not everyone is fond of the mix of humans and anthropomorphic animals journeying around the world together, and some people have been slightly turned off with this aspect of Shiness.

I think the negative reactions to the animal characters could be from gamers who have become accustomed to the uncreative RPGs oftentimes released in the West that forfeit fantasy in favor of sterilized characters and settings. Enigami are throwing boundaries and boxes to the wind, and they have something uniquely distinct that they’re trying to create with Shiness. Besides, back during the SNES, PSX and PS2 era, animals and humans going on adventures together was very common.

Recently, a lot of Western developers have been attempting to shun fun, fantasy and entertainment qualities in games in favor of trying to heavily enforce social justice issues in games, and this may have given a lot of gamers the impression that games can’t be wacky, and outlandish or step outside the creative box anymore because so many AAA devs have brought such a mundane atmosphere to the world of interactive entertainment.

Well, hopefully Enigami can prove that there’s still room for fantasy and fun with their Kickstarted title.

You can look for Shiness to launch on April 18th for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
