SkyKeepers, Platforming Hack-and-Slash Game Launches For PS4, XB1, PC

Sword Twin Studios’ SkyKeepers recently launched on Xbox One, PS4 and on Steam for PC. The game follows a chieftain named Tangi, whose village comes under attack. He must risk life and limb in order to save himself and his people.

The game is a hack-and-slash, role-playing platformer. It uses hand-animated sprites and focuses heavily on a combat system that seems like Devil May Cry if it were in 2D.

A launch trailer was released for the game that you can check out below, signifying its availability on home consoles and PC.

The gameplay reminds me a lot of Guacamelee, there’s that similar outlandish vibe fused with the melee-based combo attacks.

Players will follow the story as Tangi and his son Pelagi attempt to fight to restore the honor and prestige of their village. Along the way players will be able to unlock new abilities and moves, as well as new combo attacks and specials.

There seems to be some other underlying story elements about Tangi losing his way of life, and it’s mentioned in the press release that this was borne from the lead designers fears and challenges of dealing with becoming a father and the responsibilities that tag along with fatherhood.

It seems like the game could get tragic, but I can’t really say. We should have a review coming soon, so I guess we’ll all find out exactly what’s going on beyond what’s revealed in the press release and the trailer.

SkyKeepers is a budget-priced game, so you’ll be able to pick up a digital copy for only $14.99 across the Xbox One, PS4 and PC. It’s a small title for those of you who might be looking for something simple to add to your library, assuming you want a hack-and-slash 2D platformer to play during down time.
