Quarantine Graduates From Early Access, Lets Gamers Fight Off Epidemic Diseases

Developers Sproing and publisher 505 Games announced that Quarantine has finally exited from Early Access, graduating from the developmental phase on Steam. The game is now available for only $9.99 over on the Steam store. However, during the first week of its official release the game is marked down by 40% off for only $5.99.

Quarantine is a unique turn-based strategy game based on identifying, quarantining and combating deadly, world-ending diseases. The game sees players taking their skills and expertise across the world where they’ll attempt to pick and choose how to deploy their resources to address widespread, biological diseases threatening the population of various regions, and maybe even the world.

Players will have to manage their resources wisely, recruiting some of the best minds from around the world while researching new diseases, spending points in upgrading tech, and quarantining threats before infections spread.

Harald Riegler, CEO Sproing, praised Valve’s Early Access phase for allowing a small indie developer like Sproing take advantage of the months they spent in Early Access in order to upgrade, improve and eventually get Quarantine up and out in a working fashion, mentioning in the press release…

“For an independent developer, the Steam Early Access program is such a great tool,” […] “Being able to get our game in front of players early on helped us finetune the experience and provided insight into what players wanted from a single-player strategy game. For our official launch, we’ve added new content based on that feedback, including several new diseases and the ability to name your own pathogens. We hope people will enjoy playing the game as much as we enjoyed working with the community to make it.”

It’s true that they did add brand new content to the available scenarios in the game, including a new Fungus scenario for 1.0. The new scenario offers players all new strategies and challenges, which they detail over on the Steam community page.

You can get an idea of what the game plays out like with the launch trailer below.

In addition to all of the above, the game keeps the challenges rolling in hot and heavy thanks to a “devious” disease artificial intelligence, which changes up how it infects, spreads and spawns new virus strains or other catastrophic events.

There’s even integrated Steam Workshop support for the game so new content and scenarios can be added to the game.
