Not too long ago Sega released a video trailer for Sonic Mania showing off Flying Battery Zone act 1, the second stage after Mushroom Hill Zone found in Sonic & Knuckles. Well, as of today Sega finally lifted the curtain over Sonic Mania’s release date.

In addition to the above a lot of people were hoping that Sega would have announced the release date of the 2D HD game some time back around the Flying Battery Zone video. However, it took a little while but  that finally seems to be the case. If you are excited to hear more about Sonic Mania, a new description via the announcement trailer explaining the release date and game lies below.

“Sonic Mania arrives this August! Join Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles in a new 2D Adventure as they explore brand new levels, re-live completely updated classics, and battle fearsome new bosses. Get ready for the ultimate celebration of past and future. Get ready for Sonic Mania.

This now brings us to official trailer that’s now up. The new video explores a wide range of stages as well as showing off Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. You can check out the trailer below thanks to Sonic the Hedgehog.

For the curious ones out there, the video art above comes in by artist Tyson Hesse and the music by Hyper Potions;  the two are now swamped by 100 chili-dogs as part of Sega’s thanks:

“This trailer features sketch + color animation by the talented Tyson Hesse, and new custom music from Hyper Potions. It wouldn’t have been possible without them, and we’d like to give them a special 100-chili-dog thank you for their hard work.”

As noted above, Sonic Mania is set to release on August 15th and will land on PC, PS4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch.
