There has been so much overbearing talk and ideologically-driven discussion about identity politics and feminism in media that when Gunfire Games and THQ Nordic announced Darksiders 3, which stars the female Fury – one of the Four Horsemen from the comic book Darksiders – some people instantly reacted despondently because they immediately thought it was another attempt from Cultural Marxists to shoehorn in third-wave feminist ideals into gaming. Sad times we live in.
Oh yeah, and Liana Kerzner also wants to discuss females in gaming, but she wants to do the opposite of what Anita Sarkeesian did by opening up a two-way conversation into the topic. Some people support it and some people don’t. It will be interesting to see how that series unfolds. Also, Palmer Luckey was partially exonerated in a new report pointing out that a lot of the attacks about him supporting Trump was nothing but “fake news”. Go figure. UploadVR recently did an article highlighting how the media blitz and smear campaign against Oculus founder, Palmer Luckey, was nothing but fake news. They came to that conclusion after diving in and attempting to fact check, only to find that the media had established a narrative against Luckey. Horror game, Perception, is set for release on May 30th for home consoles and PC, and the hook for the game is the fact that it uses echolocation for navigation. Capcom is hoping that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite will sell at least 2 million copies when it sells this September. CD Projekt Red is still adding artists to their stable for Cyberpunk 2077‘s development. And a new Steam curator called SJW Awareness have been making waves thanks to highlighting SJW games in the gaming industry.

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Coming To PS4, Xbox One?
It’s possible we could be seeing the survival game, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds on the Xbox One and PS4, as the developers are currently working on getting a beta up and running on Microsoft’s home console first. The trailer for The Defenders has gone live, and we finally get to see the four superheroes together on screen for the first time, and they’ll be facing off against Aliens icon, Sigourney Weaver. Nintendo detailed the DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the sci-fi space survival simulator that’s being compared to Mass Effect: Andromeda and No Man’s Sky called Planet Nomads has been delayed from releasing on Early Access until the end of May.
Ready Or Not Revives Hardcore Tactical Shooting
A lot of newer games have completely foregone the old-school tactical shooter elements that made many franchises from the yesteryears popular. Well, Void Interactive is working on a game called Ready or Not that offers a throwback to the kind of cooperative, team-based shooting we fell in love with during the late 1990’s iterations of Rainbow Six. New details emerge for Cyberpunk 2077, revealing that the game will feature animals and possibly some brand new rendering techniques with the Red Engine 4. A new kind of shooter called Arms of Telos will challenge gamers with a new kind of first-person experience, as the developers want to reinvent the genre. And Mario Kart 8 has managed to sell nearly half a million copies in less than a week in the U.S., alone.
