World War 2 Online Coming To Steam This Summer

World War 2 Online looks atrocious, there’s no doubt about that. However, the game offers a gigantic persistent map of Western Europe that is always online. The game allows players to play ground units, air support, tanks and naval forces. World War 2 Online is set to come out this Summer for PC via Steam Early Access.

Publisher and developer Cornered Rat Software may have made a mistake and posted that the game is set to debut on June 6th, 2001, but in actuality the WW2 game is set to debut sometime this Summer for PC via Steam Early Access. Furthermore, the game graphically is nothing to write home about and looks pretty poor, but I like to think of this game as the My Summer Car of World War 2 games.

Instead of looking flashy and well polished graphically, it throws players together on the Western part of Europe during 1939-1944, and tasks players with building up their ranks and assignments manually on either side to see who emerges victorious.

More of the game is further explained below.

“Make history come to life or change it completely as WWII Online demonstrates the scale of combined arms warfare in a breathtaking and brutally realistic gaming experience. All combat is in first person alongside live players in the same game world where every vehicle or weapon is controlled by a real person. The game world is a single zone-less map set at half scale of the Western European Theater between 1939-1944. From this map, the game provides winnable campaigns that are completely player-controlled and non-scripted.”

I should note that the game is playable, but it will expand its horizons by coming to Steam this summer.

Lastly, the game features different types of damage, meaning that multiple calculations take place that determines what sort of consequences come from different kinds of impact. Some of these include angle of obliquity, speed of round at impact, thickness of the armor, internal spall, armor penetration, parts of tank damaged and much more. As seen below you can check out a trailer by YouTuber Matt Callahan showing the only trailer for the game.

The free to play game is set hit Steam Early Access this Summer. More information can be found over on wwiionline.com.
