Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, Tropical Adventure Game Coming To Steam, PS4 On July 18th

If you haven’t heard of Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, you’re not alone. The independent 3D adventure game – designed in a similar vein to other popular and classic 3D adventure titles like The Legend of Zelda and Mega Man: Legends – features a young traveler journeying across the vibrant and tropical landscape of the mysterious island of Gemea. The game is now set to release on PC and PS4 starting July 18th.

The game doesn’t have a whole lot of info available for it, but the outline of the plot is pretty basic, as players will attempt to discover the mysteries of the island while journeying to the highest peaks and through the deepest valleys in order to thwart the rise of the proverbial ancient evil.

A new trailer for the game was posted up over on DT Gaming, featuring a minute’s worth of gameplay footage of the title in action. You can check it out below.

The beginning parts of the trailer focus on the environment, some of the whimsical architecture, and the world’s colorful design.

The trailer doesn’t appear to show any kind of combat or threats for players to encounter. I do wonder exactly what sort of gameplay mechanics and depth will be present throughout the adventure? Or will it be closer to games like Rime where it’s more about puzzle solving and critical thinking?

Sadly there isn’t a whole lot of information available for Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, but they do mention that there’s a full day and night cycle, various seasons for the different biomes, and NPCs to interact with. According to IGN, the game features crafting, fishing, and resource gathering.

Late last year while it was still heavy in development, the studio managed to get the game greenlit to appear on Steam. So it looks like they’re well on their way to hitting a solid release as well.

This upcoming adventure-exploration game is set to arrive during the middle of summer on July 18th for both the PC and PS4. You can keep track of the develop progress for Yonder: The Cloud Catcher Chronicles by heading on over to the game’s official website or by checking out the Steam store page.
