E3 2017: Skull & Bones Is A Multiplayer Pirate Game Based on ACIV’s Naval System

During Ubisoft’s E3 press conference they unveiled a new game called called Skull & Bones. The game is a naval based multiplayer game similar to Wargaming’s World of Warships.

Players will join up with other players and form a faction as they attempt to gather up loot or down the enemy teams to secure a victory. Based on what they revealed during the press conference it doesn’t sound like there’s going to be a single-player campaign mode, but it would be cool if it does have a story mode of some sort.

The actual gameplay is identical to the naval combat simulatio n from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. In fact, Ubisoft actually carved off the naval section of the game and have basically focused Skull & Bones around that system. You can see what it looks like in action with the trailer below.

Well, that’s a cinematic. However, the actual gameplay was demonstrated in a quick eight minute video that outlines how the combat works, how the team systems work and some of the challenges and objectives that players will need to complete the map or win the round.

Visually the game looks fantastic in action. Whether or not it will go through the proverbial Ubisoft downgrade remains to be seen, but there’s always that lingering notion given that it’s a year out from release on home consoles and PC and anything can happen. You can see the eight minute video below.

If you’re into multiplayer PvP games like World of Warships you might find yourself enjoying
Skull & Bones, but if you’re not into multiplayer online games then you might want to skip this one.

On the bright side at least there are giant Krakens to fight. Skull & Bones is due out next year during the fall of 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
