GORN Announced For VR Headsets And Gore-Porn Enthusiasts
GORN VR
(Last Updated On: June 26, 2017)

Devolver Digital and Free Lives announced that GORN is coming. It’s a virtual reality gladiatorial game where players will duke it out in a 3D arena against other muscle-bound combatants. It may all sound like standard roses and dudebro schlock, but the announcement trailer really ratchets up the expectations by diving head first into the gory VR sadism that GORN is going for.

The announcement trailer is only 47 seconds long, but it feels like an eternity of awesomeness.

I’ve been waiting for a good VR title that actually contains gameplay that feels impactful and visceral, and GORN seems to be going for just that. The cartoony and barbarian caricatures help offset the game’s brutal and uncompromising violence and gore, which includes decapitations, limb dismemberment, and all manner of impaling, slashing, hacking and clubbing. You can check out the trailer below.

Undoubtedly, there were some fantastic and intellectually insightful comments filling up the video page, informing the rest of the VR and gaming community about what a cognitively stimulating game GORN would be, and how it will elevate the ambitious standards set before man in order to propel ingenuity and technology forward with such a visually edifying experience.

The biggest drawback to the game, obviously, is that it’s being designed for VR headset, limiting the market reach and potential brand growth for the developer and the new IP.

On the bright side, at least VR headset owners will finally have a real manly game to play that is no-holds-barred and full of uncompromising violence and action.

You can look for GORN to land on the Steam store on July 10th as an Early Access title for the HTC Vive. I doubt Facebook will allow such a fun game on their technological creative-prison known as the Oculus Rift… not unless Zuckerberg can force Free Lives to only make people play as the gladiators stuck in the prison cells sharing selfies and complaining about oppression.

Looks cool. I wonder if they’ll have more enemies than just big dudes, like tigers and bears and Christians thrown into the area for laughs.

It does look like one of the better VR experiences. But, since my RiftCat/GearVR setup has started crashing my computer I probably won’t get to try it.
