Stormworks: Build And Rescue Lets You Build Your Own Vehicle

One of the latest build-your-own vehicle simulators set to debut sometime soon on Steam Early Access comes Green Man Gaming Publishing and Sunfire Software’s Stormworks: Build and Rescue. The build and rescue game is currently in development for PC.

Back in 2016, Axolot’s Scrap Mechanic explored a variety of vehicle building and morphing moving things in an interactive and fun way. Well, there is yet another game taking Scrap Mechanic’s building and rigging system and putting it to use in a physics-based world that needs your help.

Both the official description and video trailer are up for you to look over.

“Design and pilot your own sea-rescue service, in a rich and dramatic physics playground. Steer or fly your custom-designed, block based, programmable vehicles into fierce oceanic storms. Plan and execute thrilling rescues in a variety of challenging crisis scenarios.”

Stormworks: Build and Rescue was designed so that players can create vehicles by placing blocks in a comprehensive editor that provides the necessary tools to make just about any moving vehicle, whether floats on water or flies through the sky.

The vehicle editor in the game comes equipped with tools that allow players to decorate with paint, and program the behavior of whatever vehicle being made by using a “powerful logic” system to rig moving and stable parts fluently. The editor also sports a wide array of parts, tools, and components for unique looking boats and planes.

Lastly, the game features a dynamic weather system that creates diverse environments, from still and calm sunny mornings, to ferocious stormy nights. Strong weather storms will change how bodies of water like oceans behave, which will affect your vehicle. As noted by the devs, all vehicles will simulate a physically based displacement-buoyancy system, so it’s best to construct something that is not only fit for the job but that is strong enough to withstand heavy storms.
