Dead Matter, Open-World Zombie Game Mixes PvE Story With PvP Combat

A new open-world horror game called Dead Matter is currently in development. A four minute video was released featuring pre-alpha gameplay footage of the title, and it helps give gamers a bit of an idea as to what they can expect from the upcoming survival shooter.

The video was posted up on MathChief‘s YouTube channel. It covers the design of the game, and some of the gameplay elements. The game is set within Alberta, Canada [Correction: the game’s world is hand crafted by the team. They’re filling out a massively generated map that gives players a 400km world to explore]. You can check out the video below.

The game features day and night cycle shifts, vehicular gameplay, NPC story characters for PvE progression, and there are also other players online that will add a PvP element to the game as well.

The game world will offer capture points in the form of homes and buildings, and players will be able to decorate or occupy them with various objects and entities, ranging from standard home décor to defensive props.

There will be 50 different melee weapons in the game, complete with livery customization. And the developers plan on adding in full mod support along with procedural generation tools, so players will be able to use the tools to design their own levels and scenarios.

Quantum Integrity Software has plans on getting the game up and running into Steam Early Access over the next six months. In order to do so they’re attempting to acquire funds via Kickstarter.

At the moment they’ve accrued $4,500 as of the writing of this article, but they’re hoping to hit their $47,430 goal over the next 29 days. They’re not off to a bad start.

If you think this is something that you feel deserves your patronage, or if you would simply like to learn more, you can do so by visiting the official Kickstarter page.

They’re planning on getting the early closed alpha up and released by February, 2018.
