MotoGP 17 eSport Championship Gets Underway On PS4 July 27th

MotoGP eSports

Square Enix and Milestone have announced that they will hold an e-sports championship exclusively on the PlayStation 4 starting July 27th and running through October 22nd. Gamers around the world are invited to partake in the event, which is being held in collaboration with Dorna Sports and Dorna Sports’ television partners.

The event will start with the Jerez GP in Spain, and will run through August 6th. Players will need to man Man Marquez on the Honda in order to qualify with the fastest time. From there players will take on the role of Pol Espargaro in Austria between August 10th and August 20th. Qualifiers will then have to prove their worth on the Silverstone Raceway as Lowes on west track conditions between August 24th and September 3rd.

The e-sports event will then move onto Misano between September 7th and September 17th. It will then be Rossi’s time to shine in the spotlight at Aragon between September 21st and October 1st. And then the competition will round out at Phillip Island with Iannone on dry track conditions between October 12th and October 22nd. You can check out the full chart below to get an idea of what the event calendar will look like.

Date Circuit Rider Weather conditions N° qualifiers

10/08 – 20/08 Austria Pol Espargarò Dry 2
24/08 – 03/09 Silverstone Lowes Wet 3
07/09 – 17/09 Misano Lorenzo Dry 3
21/09 – 01/10 Aragon Rossi Dry 3
12/10 – 22/10 Phillip Island Iannone Dry 3

The 16 fastest players who participate in the final will have the privilege of having the first annual MotoGP e-sports Championship broadcast on live TV through Dorna Sports’ television broadcasting affiliates. Unlike ESPN and Capcom at least gamers won’t have to worry about any of the characters being censored from the broadcast like Cammy was during the top 8 finals at EVO 2017 this past year in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Center.

The final event will be broadcast live from the Valencia circuit in Spain, as part of the real-life MotoGP final race on November 12th to round out the season.

The earnings are no small thing. First place will take home a real life BMW M240i… seriously. Second place will get a KTM RC 390 and third place will win a smart TV.

Those are some sexy rewards just for landing a good place on the scoreboard in a video game.
