Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition Launches On PC, PS4 August 15th

Screaming Villains announced recently that there will be a limited run physical edition of Night Trap: 25th Anniversary Edition made available along with the digital release of the game for PC and PS4 starting August 15th. The Xbox One version of the game is also planned for release at a later date. Sadly, Nintendo Switch owners will be left out of the loop this time around.

The announcement was made over on the official Steam page, where the countdown for the release of the remastered edition of Night Trap will finally make its way to PC for the very first time.

The game was originally in development back in the late 1980s, starting in 1987, but developers Digital Pictures didn’t manage to release the game until 1992 on the Sega CD. It was met with plenty of controversy from the typical parent groups, religious groups and politicians who ragged on the game, aiming to get it banned from store shelves.

It’s so silly looking at this campy piece of FMV trash these days realizing that it caused such a moral panic back in the 1990s. You can see what the remastered version of the title looks like in action with the trailer below.

The game revolves around trying to stop trans-dimensional vampires from killing a bunch of hot teenage girls. Your job is to work with a group of high-tech agents to monitor the activity of the slumber party and attempt to trap the vampires before they can kill any of the girls.

In addition to the base game there’s also the inclusion of behind-the-scenes footage, deleted content, production images, a new online mode called Survivor, along with a story-movie mode so you can watch all of the clips without the worry of getting bogged down by the pesky gameplay.

They’re also including an unreleased prototype FMV adventure called Scene of the Crime, which will be bundled into the package.

The game doesn’t require much in the way of specs other than 3GB of hard drive space.
