PWND, Rocket-Arena PvP Game Enters Early Access On Steam

Skydance Interactive’s rocket-arena hero shooter called PWND is currently out and available right now as a Steam Early Access title. The game came out recently, featuring a dystopian future inspired by 1980’s excess.

According to the description of the game, the cast of four playable characters was inspired by diversity and unique abilities…

“PWND features a fun and diverse cast of characters with unique abilities, multiple game modes and deep tactical teamwork. Every PWND match is a no-holds-barred reminder that death is temporary but humiliation is forever”

The game is a fast-paced rocket-arena shooter that hearkens back to the old days of gaming. A trailer for the title was recently published on YouTube, which you can check out below.

A lot of the gamers who watched the video weren’t entirely impressed with what they saw, saying that with games like Lawbreakers right around the corner and the new Unreal in development, it’s hard to find a reason to be excited about PWND.

According to Skydance Interactive president, Peter Akemann, the game’s appeal comes in the form of the over-the-top taunts and three-dimensional combat, mentioning in the press release…

“We are thrilled to launch PWND, our uniquely character-driven team-based shooter that is all about three-dimensional combat in a high-speed, deadly arena filled with even faster talking opponents,” “As soon as you dive in (and up and down) with your friends, you’ll quickly realize that killing your enemies is only the beginning of the ultimate crusade in PWND!”

There’s an expansive taunt system in the game that supposedly opens up some new possibilities for the title.

Within the lore of the game, PvP deathmatch wasn’t enough… there needed to be more humiliation, more pwnage. So points are rewarded to players for the ultimate form of humiliation after an opponent has been downed… obviously you should curb your anticipation for any Ultimate Surrender-style shenanigans.

However… there is some tea-bagging that takes places and in a video below from Daithi De Nogla, we do see the Asian chick tea-bag the butthole of a dead dude that results in him exploding into a million bits of gib.

Strangely, there’s a surprising lack of tea-bagging going on in a game where it seems like it would be most present. I mean, most of the humiliations come in the form of dancing on the body, but I guess that’s the safe-for-work methodology they’re going with to keep the game tame for the censor-happy folk at Twitch.tv.

Anyway, PWND is available right now for $29.99 over on the Steam store. During the first week of its Early Access run you can get it for 20% off for only $23.99.
