Rat Simulator Successfully Graduates From Steam Early Access, Available For $8.99

Visualnoveler recently announced that Rat Simulator has graduated from Early Access following its latest update back on July 27th. The developers introduced boss fights for the first time, unique voice acting for the human characters, all new game mechanics, and they’ve finally optimized the graphics.

The game allows you to infect up to nine different house in the neighborhood, and attempt to drive the inhabitants out without being killed in the process. This requires the element of stealth in order to get through each stage without being spotted. You’ll need to hide, roam, and manipulate your surroundings in order to accomplish the tasks at hand, all while creating chaos and destruction by deliberately destroying homes.

Not only that but you’ll need to spread diseases to humans, and in order to do so you’ll need infect their food and get them to die. You can check out the gameplay in the video trailer below.

Part of the objective is to revive fellow rats, outrun the pest control, use the poison powers to damage humans, and as mentioned up above, battle it out against various bosses in the game.

So far only Early Access user reviews are available at the time of writing this article, and they’re a mixed bag of results. Some people like that the game is self-aware and its humor is on the nose. Others are a bit peeved that after 15 minutes or so they feel there’s nothing else to do in the game. It’s definitely easy to see where both sides are coming from.

However, it sounds like with update 0.14 and all the other features they’ve added to the title, it’s possible to get a lot more mileage out of the game’s replay factors, including new objectives, new mechanics and new ways to complete the game.

It reminds me of a less polished version of Goat Simulator, if that’s even possible.
