Sonic Forces Trailer Introduce Edgy New Villain, Infinite

Sega released two new promotional videos for Sonic Forces. The first is a minute long trailer introducing gamers to the strange and powerful new character Infinite, and the second video is the music trailer featuring Infinite’s theme song.

The new foe has super powerful abilities that even Tails is unable to get any readings on, forcing Sonic to fight the new villain blindly. The trailer clip is like a Sonic edge-master’s fanfic come true. Infinite easily throws Sonic around with his blindingly fast abilities and is said to possess speed too fast for Sonic. It’s like Sega decided to go the Dragon Ball Z route for Sonic.

You can check out the trailer below.

The whole thing is pretty cringe-worthy, and definitely adds onto the feeling that between Sonic Forces and Sonic Mania, the latter of the two is the one that will likely leave gamers stepping away feeling as if it’s the more authentic Sonic title.

The comment section for the trailer definitely didn’t waste any opportunities to make fun of how edgy Infinite comes across. Heck, if he were any edgier you would need bubble wrap just to look at him.

There’s also a ton of comments about Infinite looking like an original character from out of the furry/Sonic corner of DeviantArt. It’s not hard to see why they would make those comments given that Infinite really does come off as a retread of the typical new-villain anime trope. He’ll likely be chilling with Sonic eating hot dogs by the time Sonic Forces 3 rolls around and some new villain named Sharp comes into the picture, a character so fast he can cut the fabric of the time/space continuum.

Anyway, you can check out the theme song for Infinite below.

Sadly, the more I see of Sonic Forces the less impressed I am. It’s just the opposite for Sonic Mania, where the more I see of that game the more impressed I am.

You can look for Sonic Forces to launch for the PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch starting this holiday season.
