Triple Threat Features Tony Jaa, Scott Adkins, Iko Uwais and Michael Jai White

Triple Threat just received a new trailer and could end being the best action movie of 2018. This is no statement to take lightly. The film features some of the greatest martial artists of all time, including Scott Adkins from Undisputed, Michael Jai White from Blood and Bone, Tiger Chen from Man of Tai Chi and Iko Uwais from The Raid.

The minute long trailer refrains from spoiling all the goods, and instead sets up a plot where Adkins and MJW are on a team along with UFC legend Michael Bisping.

I’m not really sure what’s going on with the plot, it’s either going to be fairly decent or really stupid. Most people in the comment section don’t really care, just so long as we get some good fight scenes between all of the aforementioned names.

Also there’s a nice little nod to their unfinished business from Man of Tai Chi at the beginning between Iko and Tiger Chen when he whispers “Remember Me?” For those of you who haven’t seen the film or don’t remember… Tiger Chen and Iko Uwais’ characters were set to fight near the end but Chen’s character was going through an epiphany and refused to fight Iko. So now we finally get to see them fight!

Plot wise it doesn’t really matter much how this all comes together, and part of me wants to be surprised given that surprises are something we just literally do not get anymore from Hollywood flicks, so if this movie turns out to be a decent action-martial arts-thriller, I would be more than happy.

Thankfully the trailer doesn’t give away any of the fights, so we’ll actually have to watch it to see how it all turns out and whether the choreography is as good as the casting.

The only other two notable action martial artists missing from the roster is, of course, Donnie Yen and Wu Jing. However, Wu Jing breaking both his legs will probably change the future of his career forever, and also I doubt Scott Adkins will be as agile as he was in Undisputed 2 given that he had a back injury during Ninja 2, and usually martial artists alter their move-set to compensate for those kind of injuries, sort of like AJ Styles using fewer high-flying moves after rehabbing his back.

Anyway, Triple Threat seems like it could be a worthwhile film in 2018. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up.
