Assassin’s Creed: Origins Video Previews Outfits; Forum Gets Taken Over By Trolls

Nearly half an hour of new footage for Assassin’s Creed: Origins has surfaced. The new video covers some of the new content for the game, including changing outfits, the inventory setup, and some more of the underwater gameplay.

YouTuber CenterStrain01 posted up the 21 minute video featuring some of the gameplay of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, starting with the death of an crocodile and then some underwater exploration of some Egyptian ruins. You can check out the video below.

The underwater gameplay is nothing but swimming around. There’s nothing else there.

After finally getting out of the water, Bayek goes onto the sand and fights two more crocodiles in some poorly timed combat, which consists of just flailing around and shooting the arrow until the reptiles are killed.

The combat still looks as unimpressive as ever. The poor hitbox detection, and the stealth maneuvers in the game look like they’re early prototypes. In the one segment seven minutes in, there’s some awful clipping as Bayek moves through a bush.

Later on Bayek ends up inside of an underwater tomb where he collects some gold and gear and explores a tunnel that takes him to river filled with more crocodiles.

Nearly 10 minutes of the footage is Bayek underwater, boringly exploring the caves.

Eventually Bayek visit the weaver where he buys some new garb, but it’s not terribly impressive and is the standard fare color change you would expect in an Assassin’s Creed game.

Strangely, the CenterStrain01 video is free of trolling, but the Steam forums is not. Mister Metokur and other 4chan trolls have been going at it on the Steam forums of Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

Many others joined in but some of them have been banned.

Essentially the forums for Assassin’s Creed: Origins is now prime rib for the trolls to chow down on.

Discussion about the awful upcoming game has basically disappeared.

This really kicked into high gear when one of the Steam forum moderators banned a user with a Moon Man profile and a thread titled “We”. He was hoping to get a chain started about “We Wuz Kangz” but the mod halted it. The channers caught wind of the ban and went full-troll on the Assassin’s Creed: Origins board.

Now it’s completely possible that there hasn’t been any serious crackdown on the trolls because Ubisoft knows they have a trash game, and without the trolls there’s absolutely nothing positive to say about Assasin’s Creed: Origins other than that it has mildly decent looking environments, nothing too much more impressive than Crysis from a decade ago. It’s almost like saying Carmen Electra still looks mildly better than Pamela Anderson, but you’re comparing two aging sex icons either way and most people just don’t care.

You can look for Assassin’s Creed: Origins to launch on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on October 27th.
