Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack Retail Edition For Nintendo Switch Arrives In October

Azure Striker Gunvolt and Azure Striker Gunvolt 2 are being re-released on the Nintendo Switch this October courtesy of Inti Creates and Nighthawk Interactive.

Both games originally released on the Nintendo 3DS, but the 2D, action-platforming titles will make their way to the Nintendo Switch with all new enhancements, the entire catalog of previously released DLC, and both titles packaged together in one digital or retail purchase for Nintendo’s newest hybrid gaming platform.

Matt Papa, producer at Inti Creates, explained why they decided to port over the two games to the hot-selling Switch, mentioning in the press release…

“The Nintendo Switch is such a fun and versatile system; perfect for the frenetic action of a 2D platformer,”. “This new edition offers great content for existing and incoming fans of the series, and now everyone can enjoy the complete Gunvolt experience on the big screen at home, or on the go.”

If you’re unfamiliar with either of the Gunvolt games, there’s a video below to give you a refresher course on what to expect.

Back in May of this year, Inti Creates had originally announced that the Azure Striker Gunvolt pack would be released at the end of this month. However, the game has been pushed back to October for its retail release.

The Switch version will run at 60fps and feature HD cinematics and sprites. The game also includes a brand new song, and compatibility for the Switch Pro Controller and HD Rumble features.

If you’ve been a fan of old Mega Man style games or Treasure’s classics Gunstar titles, you might enjoy Azure Striker Gunvolt.

It’s a risky move having the retail package launch in the same month as the release of Super Mario Odyssey, but maybe Inti Creates believes that there will be enough genre separation to make their pack stand out.

Anyway, you can look for the game to launch on the Nintnedo eShop or at your local retailer for the Nintendo Switch.
