BioWare Montreal Merge With Motive Studios Is Said To Help Unnamed Star Wars Project

EA has confirmed during its recent earnings call that Mass Effect: Andromeda developer BioWare Montreal and Motive Studios will be merging in a new Montreal office, in which former Uncharted director Amy Hennig and the unnamed Star Wars project by Visceral Games will receive help from this merged group.

According to publication site Gamasutra it is said that publisher EA is merging BioWare Montreal and Motive Studios. Additionally, this was confirmed by the CFO of EA, Blake Jorgensen, stating the above in the company’s most recent earnings call. Jorgensen went on to say that both studios will be linking up in a new Montreal office.

The publication site further reads that the new opening has already been filled out with over 100 new employees, and will now serve as the home for both BioWare Montreal and Motive Studios. Gamasutra also mentions the following information that Jorgensen had noted during the earnings call:

We’re building out a new studio in Montreal, and we’ve hired over 100 people into that studio that are brand-new to EA. This is to build the new IP around Jade Raymond’s team that she’s been building”.

“I was in that studio last month. And it’s a wonderful new addition to our team. And we brought our BioWare Montreal team into that same facility.”

EA Motive was founded by Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond, and is currently working on the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront 2 title alongside DICE and Criterion Games. The part that has a lot of people’s interest is the Canadian outfit helping Visceral Games fix-up and polish the upcoming and unannounced Star Wars project that is currently overseen by former Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig.

The publication site also notes the actions that BioWare Montreal is responsible for when it comes to the Mass Effect franchise, most notably the Andromeda title, which has some fans looking forward to the unannounced Star Wars project with apprehension.

Lastly, there’s no telling how the finished product of the Star Wars project will be, given that it will be a ways before we see anything noteworthy. However, the true question is what’s your thoughts on the Mass Effect: Andromeda team helping Visceral Games to make the upcoming action-adventure Star Wars project?
