Demon Gaze 2 Release Date Set For November 14th On PS4, PS Vita

Even though Sony has seemingly abandoned the PlayStation Vita with about as much certainty as an African American father abandoning his kids, not every publisher feels that way about the Vita. In fact, some publishers have stepped in to adopt it as their own, just the same as many white couples step in to adopt needy minority kids. That couldn’t be more true of NIS America, who is continuing to pump out new games for both the Vita and the PS4, even though Sony has left the Vita to struggle through software welfare by picking up the scraps wherever it can. NIS, however, has made it quite evident that they still have faith in the system, especially with the upcoming release of the JRPG, Demon Gaze II.

The game is about an evil wizard named Magnastar who has spellbound the people of Asteria, and it’s to the Demon Gazer, a savior of the Revolutionist Party, to overthrow Magnastar and utilize the power of demons to free the citizens from his spellbinding powers.

So basically it’s Redpill: The Game.

You can check out the opening cinematic for Demon Gaze II below to get a look at the visuals and characters.

The theme of the game is about turning foes into allies by using the Trance Demon Mode. You can then fuse with them using the Demon’s Cross. It sounds very similar to something you might find from a Shin Megami Tensei game.

Additionally, the game is designed to appeal to fans of dungeon-crawling RPGs, including diving deep into the dungeon to fight harder monsters, or fleeing until you can get strong… real strong.

Developer Kadokawa Games is mostly known for their RPG Maker titles, as well as the visual novel Letter – Root Letter. They originally announced that they would be bringing Demon Gaze II to the West back in July, but we haven’t heard much about it until now.

It’s hard to tell if this will go over well with Vita fans or if it will be yet another JRPG that lands and fizzles on Sony’s waning portable system. First-person dungeon crawlers haven’t really been all that popular lately, but maybe word of mouth could help Demon Gaze II become a sleeper hit.

Anyway, you can look for the game to arrive on the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita in the West on November 14th in North America and on November 17th in Europe.
