Final Fantasy X Spira Music Collection Now Available, Features 100 Remixed Tracks

The Materia Collective announced that Spira: Music From Final Fantasy X project is currently available right now across two 50-track volumes, including the Besaid Mix and the Zanarkand Mix. Both albums are available individually for $12 each, digitally from Bandcamp.

Project organizers Joe Chen and Emily McMillan explained that the 50 track albums aren’t just standard remixes, but contain a wide range of different music styles and genres, featuring the artist’s own interpretation of the music, saying in the press release…

“The Final Fantasy X soundtrack already contains a lot of variations on a few common themes,” “We wanted to create a listening experience where it didn’t feel like you’re listening to ‘Hymn of the Fayths’ 20 times in a row, so all of our artists aimed to do something new on their track. For example, some artists arranged in an unfamiliar style, while others incorporated unique instrumentation. As a result, both SPIRA albums re-frame the classic themes from Final Fantasy X with a fresh perspective.”

The music contains remixes and rearrangements based on the music from Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, and Junya Nakano.

Composers who worked on this particular remixed album features Jordan Chin, Dale North, Ryan Ike, Braxton Burks, Triforce Quartet, and vocalist Julie Elven. If you’re interested in listening to the tracks for consideration of purchase, you can check out the Bandcamp embed below.

I’m not the most impartial judge for stuff like this because I’ve always been a fervent and inveterate fan of Uematsu’s work since his untouchable soundtrack to Final Fantasy VI. So listening to a lot of these tracks that pay very endearing and classically themed homages to the works of some of Square Enix’s best composers, hits a soft spot that makes it hard for me not to recommend getting the albums.

The Spira: Music From Final Fantasy X project follows on the heels of the Materia: Final Fantasy VII Remixed collection, and the Final Fantasy VIII remixed album.

You can purchase both the Besaid Mix and the Zanarkand Mix from the respective Bandcamp pages:
