Out Of Ammo: Death Drive Launch Trailer Travels Across The Wasteland Killing Zombies, Bandits

The official launch trailer for RocketWerkz’ Out of Ammo: Death Drive has gone live, featuring a look at the various locations players will visit, some of the crazy locales players will encounter, and some of the outrageous first-person combat that rests at the heart of the gameplay experience.

Out of Ammo: Death Drive is due for release at some point this month. There’s a tentative “August” listing over on the Steam page but that could mean anywhere between tomorrow and August 31st.

The trailer is only a minute long but it attempts to paint the game world as some Mad Max-style survival wasteland filled with zombies, bandits, and weirdos. Check it out below.

Conceptually it seems like it could have been a cool game, but the Minecraft-style graphics and shallow VR gameplay seems like they’re the two biggest detractors from Out of Ammo: Death Drive. If this were the 1980’s this would have been a low budget flick from out of New Zealand that could have become a cult-classic, like a mix between The Warriors, Mad Max and Dawn of the Dead. Instead, since we’re in [current year] it’s a faux-voxel, VR shooter with disembodied hands.

Gameplay wise you’ll be able to build up your base, engage in scrap collecting, build emplacements, travel around and kill zombies, and utilize both projectile and melee based weapons. Combat is identical to other shooters out there like Arizona Sunshine or Gorn. You can use motion-based swings to decapitate your foes, bludgeon them over the head, or shoot them in the face.

The story seems to revolve around attempting to survive through a variety of apocalyptic scenarios while collecting stuff. I only wish the graphics were slightly better because it would have made for a far more enjoyable experience.

Anyway, you can look for Out of Ammo: Death Drive to launch on Steam sometime this month. For more info feel free to check out the Steam store page.
